First, and most importantly, dont just move out. You can call or email your landlord to see if you could work something out. If this fails, there will still be a court date down the road so you should never just move out when you get an eviction notice.

Second, take care of your spot. This means making sure your place is clean on the outside and the inside. While things like prohibited junk or noise complaints are not non-payment, they still may be eviction criteria.

Lastly, go to the court date. If you’re not there, the judge will think you do not care and will authorize the sheriff to change your locks. Instead, you should go, tell the judge your situation, and that you are willing to work something out.
